Untraceable is one of those movies that I get to watch by myself. It falls into the genre of Torture Porn; however it is no Saw or Hostel. It does have scenes where people are being held against their will and killed slowly.
This movie has a clear message from the beginning to the end: there are sick people out there on the World Wide Web. The question is who is sicker? Is the psycho-Unabomber-esk the sick-o, or are the viewers who search for and watch videos like those posted on the fictional website killwithme.com the real killers? The movie comes down hard on the side of those who search for crap are the real killers.
Beyond all the torture and the blatant message, I really liked the film for the cop / FBI work. There is a great scene at the beginning where the FBI catches a kid who is stealing identities and using the money to buy games, hardware, and a Rolex for his father’s birthday. It is amazing what Big Brother can do.
