Convoy is one of my all time favorite movies. I was born in 1976 so I was only 2 when this classic was in the theater, but I have very fond memories of watching this movie on Saturday afternoons (yes, more than one, and very often) with my younger brother and my father.
We would sing along with the theme song and cheer each time the trucks blew though some blockade that evil Sheriff Lyle Wallace aka Cottonmouth played by Ernest Borgnine set up.
I remember getting out my toy cars and truck and lining them up on the hardwood floor into a giant Matchbox Convoy lead by Rubber Duck aka Martin Penwald played by Kris Kristofferson. Then my brother would smash it to bits pretending to be the Sheriff.
This is a really good movie, fun, family friendly (at least the TV version), and of a generation that loved to drive.
If you are looking for a movie with great plot, drama, and action, this might not be for you; however, if you are looking for something different that will make you laugh and want to yell out “Rubber Duck,” then for sure watch this movie!
Here is a very Fun German Fan Site where you can here the theme song: Convoy
